Getting to Rotterdam
Rotterdam, like the rest of The Netherlands, is well served on the local, national and international levels by an efficient and modern transportation network. The largest airport in The Netherlands is
Schiphol Airport, a major international aviation hub located on the main railway line between Rotterdam and Amsterdam. The second largest,
Rotterdam Airport is a regional airport located close to the city center. Rotterdam Central Station is well linked to
international (hi speed) train lines to and from the UK, Germany, France and Belgium.
Arrival
Arriving at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport: regular half-hour train services ('intercity') take you to Rotterdam Central Station in about 50 minutes. Trains depart from the
NS (Dutch Railways) station located directly under the Schiphol’s Arrivals/Departures Hall. Between 05.45 and 23.45 hours every half hour, after 23.45 through the night every hour.
Arriving at Rotterdam Airport, taxis are available in front of the terminal building. A shuttle bus service runs every 20 minutes (RET bus 33) and takes you in about 20 minutes to Rotterdam Central Station. From there it is only about 300 meters to the IFFR Professionals Centre in 'de Doelen', entrance Kruisplein. You can find the RET bus stop on the left leaving the airport terminal; tickets are available from the driver. Bus 33 runs from Rotterdam Airport to Rotterdam Central Station on Mon-Fri from 05.50 till 0.00; Sat from 06.05 till 0.00; Sun 08.00 till 0.00. Bus 33 runs from Rotterdam Central Station to Rotterdam Airport Mon-Fri 06.00 till 0.25; Sat 06.30 till 0.25; Sun 08.30 till 0.25 hrs.
From Rotterdam Central Station: the IFFR Professionals Center is located 300 meters away on the third floor of 'De Doelen' Congress Center (entrance on Kruisplein, Juriaanse Zaal, opposite the train station). See the Rotterdam City Center-map for directions, all festival venues and festival hotels.
