City Guide: Rotterdam
Rotterdam is the second largest city in The Netherlands, the largest port in Europe, and the economic, social and cultural center of South Holland. While many other cities in Holland conjure images of tulips, canals and windmills, Rotterdam is strikingly modern. The city is known for its avant-garde architecture, inspirational cultural events, dynamic nightlife and abundant recreation and leisure options.

Language
Generally speaking, the Dutch possess a high English proficiency and can often also converse in other languages such as French and German. Most signage in the larger cities such as Rotterdam, Amsterdam and The Hague appears in both Dutch and English. So don’t worry if you don’t speak any Dutch.
