Pop Cinema
Programme: 25 January until 1 February, daily 9:30 pm
Pop Cinema colours the festival evenings in the Small Auditorium of the Rotterdam Schouwburg with films, performances and interviews.
Each evening, Pop Cinema focuses attention on a different part of the festival with film screenings, interviews and performances, musical or otherwise. Pop Cinema chooses roundabout routes, lateral thinking, provides music and invites film makers and artists to inform and discuss.
The programme of Pop Cinema is only finalised at a late stage and will be announced every day in the Daily Tiger, on the festival website www.filmfestivalrotterdam.com and in the Tiger Alerts, the e-mail newsletter of the International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Pop Cinema is live cinema in the Small Auditorium of the Rotterdam Schouwburg, focusing on a different programme each evening, with between six and eight hours of film screenings. Then, the auditorium is opened for the talk show and various live performances. Pop Cinema is varied, rapid, diversified, surprising and unexpected.
POP CINEMA FRIDAY
What was it like to have the world premiere of a very personal film in a faraway land? Pop Cinema hosted by Mieke van der Linden kicks off tonight with Lucia Cédron, the Argentinian director of Cordero de Dios (Lamb of God). In his documenary Reinactors David J. Markey portrays the bizar lives of look-a-likes on Hollywood Boulevard. Festival director Rutger Wolfson will introduce artist in focus Cameron Jamie, whose work is shown in the theatres and in TENT. gallery on Witte de Withstraat. After that the stage is for Dälek, one of Jamie's favorites. Four guys with a microphone, straight from New Jersey. The night belongs to hip-hop DJ Alien2000.
