IFFR Press Service & Practical Information

Planning your attendance
Please do take a minute to read the following on the dates and structure of the screenings of the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2008. It may help to plan your attendance period.

- Opening Night Wednesday January 23, 2008: Opening Night screenings are by invitation only.

- Regular public screening programme takes place from Thursday January 24 up and including Saturday February 2, 2008. On the last festival day (Sunday January 3) only prebooked screenings take place; these screenings are not open to accredited press.

- The Press & Industry screenings programme runs from Thursday January 24 up to and including Thursday January 31, 2008. See more information below.

- The extensive IFFR's short film section 'Short As Long As It Takes' concentrates its screenings from Thursday January 24 up to and including January 28, 2008.

- The Awards Night of the Tiger Awards Competition for Short Films takes place on January 28.

- The Awards Night of the Tiger Awards Competition for feature films takes place Friday February 1, 2008.

- The 25th CineMart takes place within the 2008 IFFR from Sunday January 27 up to and including Thursday January 31, 2008.

Collecting your IFFR press-badge / Administration Fee

1. Upon arrival, first collect your IFFR Press badge at the Accreditation Desk in the IFFR Professionals Centre de Doelen (Willem Burger Foyer, 3rd floor). Please note that IFFR charges an administration fee of Euro 40 for press accreditation, payable in cash or by credit card. Your IFFR press badge is available from Wednesday January 23, 9 am. After paying your administration fee, you will receive your Press badge and a Welcome Kit containing a free IFFR 2008 Catalogue and a list of attending guests.

2. After collecting your Press badge, please come to the Press Desk, also located at the Willem Burger Foyer of the IFFR Professional Centre at de Doelen to receive additional press information and (if applicable) your hotel voucher.

Please read on for an overview of the services available to IFFR 2008 accredited press representatives:

Press Conferences
If the IFFR organises Press Conferences and Photo Calls, an invitation will be distributed through your pidgeon hole in the Service Centre and the schedules will be announced at the IFFR Press Desk. IFFR Press badge holders are welcome to attend the Press Conferences.

If organized, Photo Calls usually take place prior to the Press Conference. During the Press Conference you are kindly requested to switch off your cell phone and to not use flash.

Press Office
The Press Office of the IFFR can be contacted year round for information on the IFFR organisation, the IFFR programme, Cinemart, the Hubert Bals Fund and all other IFFR events. During the festival, the Press Office is located at IFFR Professional Centre de Doelen (3rd floor, right behind the Press Desk). IFFR Press Officers will be present for comments, information and upon request for arranging interviews with the IFFR co-directors and staff members.

Press Desk
The IFFR Press Desk located at the 3rd floor (Willem Burger Foyer) of the IFFR Professional Centre at de Doelen (entrance Willem Burger Zaal). The members of the Press Desk team will assist finding your way through the festival. Upon arrival in Rotterdam and collecting your IFFR Press badge, please also come to the Press Desk for further information.

The Press Desk opening hours:
Wednesday January 23 – Wednesday January 30, 2008 from 9 am till 8 pm
Thursday January 31 – Saturday February 2, 2008 from 9 till 6 pm

Any member of the IFFR Press Desk team can answer your questions and arrange for your interview requests. As each of them is specialised in a group of festival titles and associated attending talent, please do not hesitate to ask for more information.

Interview Requests and Interpreters
IFFR Press badge holders are invited to contact the Press Desk for arranging their interview requests with attending talent. If possible, interviews take place on a ‘one to one’ basis; there is a possibility - in agreement with the filmmaker - of a photocall and a interview room. We ask for your understanding if the attendence period of talent does not allow for all interview requests to take place. For interview schedules with directors from films acquired for distribution within The Netherlands, the IFFR Press Desk collaborates with the distributor’s representatives.

In case an interpreter is needed during the interview session, the IFFR Press Desk will arrange for this.

Press Dossiers
Upon request, the IFFR Press Desk will provide additional information about feature films and documentaries within the IFFR 2008 programme.

Film Stills
From Thursday January 17, 2008 until June 2008 stills of all IFFR 2008 titles (if available, in high resolution print quality, 300 dpi at 10 x 15 cm) are available for free download from the ‘Press’ pages on the IFFR Professionals' website. Prior to January 17, 2008, please send an email with your request for stills to press@filmfestivalrotterdam.com.
During the festival, the IFFR Press Desk can, upon request, send stills by email to your editor. Still prints or transparancies are not available.

EPK / Clips / Trailers 
For the purpose of television broadcast, the IFFR provides free use of clips and/or trailers from a selected number of IFFR 2008 titles on DVD or Betacam SP tapes present at the Press Office. Please call the Press Desk first to ask if an EPK or DVD/Betacam tape with clips and/or trailers is available. The DVD's and tapes are available for copying at own cost and have to be returned to the Press Office the same day and as soon as possible. The IFFR does not provide copying or editing services. For copying purposes we can provide address and contact information of nearby Rotterdam based companies.

Camera and sound crew / Audiovisual registration
Media using camera- or sound crew are asked to contact the Press Office well in advance of the festival period. Non-accredited media with camera and sound crews wishing to report on the festival, have to contact the Press Desk or Press Office to notify their presence.
Please note that audio- and/or visual registration of any IFFR 2008 film screening is strictly forbidden. To register IFFR 2008 events such as Award Ceremonies, please contact the Press Desk or Press Office. For further information or assistance please contact the IFFR Press Desk or Press Office.

Pidgeon holes (Mail Boxes)
At the Service Center located on the third floor of the de Doelen all IFFR 2008 Press badge holders have a personal mailbox. You are kindly asked to check it regularly and collect your mail.

Press releases
Year round, the IFFR Press Office sends out email press releases on news about the IFFR, CineMart and Hubert Bals Fund activities. All press releases are available online on the ‘Press’ pages of the IFFR website. During the festival period, prints of press release will be available at the Press Desk.

Video library
IFFR Press badge holders are welcome to use the IFFR Video Library to view festival titles on video. As the Video Library is open to all our Press and Industry guests, we ask for your patience if viewing copies are unavailable, especially during the CineMart (Jan 27 – 31).

Service Center
IFFR Press badge holders are welcome to the Service Centre on the third floor of de Doelen to use online computers and, at your own expense, fax and photo copying facillities. In the Willem Burger Foyer, online computers are placed to check your e-mail.
