The Hubert Bals Fund was named in honour of the founding director of the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Hubert Bals, who strongly believed in supporting filmmakers from developing countries. Nearly two decades after its inception, the HBF continues to expand. Close to 600 film projects have been supported by the Fund, approximately 80% of which have been realized or are currently in production.
