Biography Sandra Gibson & Luis Recoder

Sandra Gibson and Luis Recoder exhibited their collaborative performances and installations during the 36th IFFR. Their work is in the permanent collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art (NY), Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (Madrid), Museum of Contemporary Cinema Foundation (Paris), as well as numerous private collections. Gibson and Recoder are based in New York City and currently visiting artists at the University of Colorado at Boulder.





Summary

Experimental Film Educationals (Or: Lessons from an Avant-Garde Film) is an illustrated lecture in and around films which rise to the occasion of an acute pedagogical address of the cinematographic apparatus by way of a materialist approach. Films screened: A Lecture (1968) by Hollis Frampton, New Improved Institutional Quality: In the Environment of Liquids and Nasals a Parasitic Vowel Sometimes Develops (1976), by Owen Land, Projection Instructions (1976) by Morgan Fisher, Future Perfect (1978) by Roberta Friedman and Grahame Weinbren.
