Biography Hidde Simons

Hidde Simons (1974, Amsterdam) is the director of several shorts and the feature ‘Billy’s Bad’, an independed USA-the Netherlands co-production.

As a trained drama teacher Hidde also works as an acting coach on tv- and film sets. Alongside his work as a director and acting coach Hidde also gives film education lessons to youngsters, to share his passion.
These lessons vary from making up to one minute shorts in a day to making longer shorts in more lessons scattered over a few weeks.

Summary Workshop
Hidde Simons How to set up an environment in the classroom, in wich students feel free to make and create short movies that can be an inspiration to themselves, their classmates and the teacher(s)?What do you explain, technical and artistic, and what are free terms to be explored in a short amount of time. In small groups the participants will discuss the conditions of film-education in the classroom and make a teaching plan. With the results the participants will build the foundation of the 'ideal' lesson. This is to be carried out at a local high school.
